ABOUT ANGHARAD RYDER
Angharad Ryder is a contemporary fashion house exploring the relationship between landscape, heritage and everyday life.
We create clothing and objects that sit between art and utility. Sculptural forms, considered materials and original prints come together to create pieces that are distinctive, but made to be lived in.
The house is rooted in an interest in place. Landscape, architecture, traditional craft and cultural memory are recurring points of reference, translated through colour, pattern, texture and form.
Welsh heritage is part of that language. Rather than reproducing tradition literally, we look at the details within it: patterns, materials, symbols, landscapes and ways of making. These references are often subtle, allowing the work to speak beyond a single place.
THE HOUSE
We are interested in contrast.
Natural and constructed.
Soft and structured.
Old and new.
Function and expression.
Each collection begins with research and develops through experimentation with silhouette, material and image.
We believe clothing can be both useful and expressive. It can carry a story without becoming costume, and it can be considered without becoming precious.
MATERIALS & MAKING
We prioritise natural fibres and considered materials, choosing fabrics for their qualities, character and relationship to the design.
Our pieces are designed, printed and made in the UK, with production kept deliberately small.
Rather than producing around a seasonal cycle, we are interested in creating pieces at a pace that allows the design and making process to remain intentional.
THE BEGINNING
Angharad Ryder began from a desire to create clothing that feels personal, distinctive and connected to place.
The house will grow gradually, beginning with small editions and developing into collections of clothing, accessories and wearable objects.
This is the beginning.
